Take me back to the History of the World Series
Baseball World Series Championship is competition which is the title for the two best teams during the MLB season. The two League Champions from each division, the American and National leagues. Phillies Tickets are sometimes really hard to get. The World Series is one of the most historic sporting events in the United States, the first game was in 1903. In its 108 years of competition, The World Series has had several MLB teams win way more titles than the rest.
For Example, The Oakland Athletics, who previously played in Philadelphia and Kansas City, have the third most World Series titles in history. The A’s have been to the World Series as the AL representative 14 plus times and claimed 9 Championships. The Oakland Athletics recently took home the prize in 1989 when they were dominating with Conseco and Henderson. The Oakland Athletics most historic World Series run came between 1972 and 1974 when they took home three World Series Titles. The A’s in this era relied heavily on outfielder Reggie – Mr October – Jackson and Hall of Fame Pitchers {Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue|Vida Blue and Catfish Hunter.
The New York Yankees, who represent the American League, have competed in the World Series Championship 39 Times and have walked away with the title 26 times. Both the Oakland A’s and NY Yankees have taken home the most in MLB history. The Yankees have been an incredibly successful team throughout their history, their best run for an amazing 45 year stretch from between 1920 and 1964. In this time period the Blue and White Pin Stripes went to the World Series r record 29 times and won the Championship 20. During this time, several of the most acclaimed baseball players of all time competed for the Yankees, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle. The Yankees last won the Championship in 2009 when they were led by Alex Rodriquez and Derek Jeter.
Following the New York Yankees, the next most accomplished team in World Series history has been the St Louis Cardinals. The St Louis Cardinals, who compete in the National League, have made it to the Title Game 17 times and have won the title 10 times. The St. Louis Cardinals previously won the World Series in 2006 when they were led by first basemen Albert Pujols. The Cardinals had an impressive run of wins between 1926 and 1934 when they went to the series 5 times winning 3. World Series is incredible and between 1942 and 1946 St Louis won another three titles when Stan Musial was the leader of the team. Can the Cardinals do it again against the Rangers in 2011?
